Windows 11 is Released

Microsoft announced that Windows 11 will be released on October 5th.
The new operating system is available as a free upgrade to eligible Windows 10 computers, or on new devices that come with pre-installed Windows 11.

The upgrade will be in stages like many Windows upgrades in the past.  The upgrade is offered for new eligible devices first, after which the system becomes available for more devices on the market in the weeks and months following October 5th.

Don't worry about supporting the current Windows 10 system, the company announced that it will continue its support until October 14, 2025.

Microsoft's General Manager of Windows Marketing explains:
"After learning tremendously from Windows 10, we want to make sure we offer you the best possible experience. We expect all eligible devices to receive the free upgrade by mid-2022."
